we all know where our policemen stand vis-a-vis the dreaded underworld of mumbai. neither the policemen are saints nor the criminals are bravehearts and heroic in their action.it is a established fact that that both of these groups stand somewhere between the two limits just mentioned above.
first of all the verdict – the film is strictly above average at best and very very mediocre at worst depending upon your inclinations.but definitely not a class apart.
the film starts with a racy casting stuff with background of the shootout venue.and here comes a reporter asking about about the need to carry such an operation in residential complex.you can ask whether there was any private news channel in the country at that point of time (1990-92).the film is based on an so called shootout at the place described in its name.it is also rumoured to be a fake encounter as we all know and not what we get to see .
the film starts with the punjab militancy and nexus of underworld, and yet the connections are not properly investigated and leaves a lot to be desired.the main plot has five main shooter of the mumbai underworld leaded by maya (vivek).it is refreshing change for him after so many hopeless films and roles.he is one fearless guy who does not even think twice before he kills a cop in the lockup (quite heady stuff, right!).he is the ace of the don sitting in dubai ,who runs the mumbai’s extortion “business”.he eliminates all gangleaders who are directly or indirectly opposing his supremacy.and then he is joined by Bhua (tusshar kapoor) another dreaded gangster.tusshar does not look very convincing in that role of Bhua, thanks to his cute baby face and very very desperate overacting.
all film is in the form of question and answer between the mumbai ATS chief and an enquiry commission headed by amitabh bachchan (who retd. chief justice of high court).mumbai ATS chief is played by sanjay dutt.both have delivered power packed performances.amrita singh as the mother of maya is also very impressive.
music and dances are catchy and still you can take a break in between. at the climax, maya comes direct in conflict with the don in dubai.and then his ruin comes suddenly…..when his information of hideout is leaked to police by the don himself.and the shootout results between the goons and the cops.and as usual the goons get killed heroically and as bravehearts . and you are compelled to pass sympathies to them.but really its not so easy that too…..at last an ambivalent feeling encompasses you, when all the cops in the shootout are exonerated.
so the mantra is to see the film with open mind and not to expect much as you may feel a bit disappointed.

left is right.consider this proposition.this single statement can be looked from various perspectives.
the economic policies of the leftist government ,the world over had been towards one single objective- i.e. everybody has a rightful and respectful place in the society.their economic setup is somewhat welfare economy in nature. most of the industry is either in government control or in private hands , controlled by various licenses the government issues.nothing is done at the expense of public good.so , the policies are in fact utopian in nature.
so,the left is right in fact ,in principle. this basic priciple of human equality in fact takes to a situation where every parameters of human relations tend to converge on plane that is very saturated.and there after no progress can be made ,at least as far as my thinking is concerned….that too in principle.but the reality is quite contrary to the beliefs and principles of the pure communist or socialist thoughts.
today the governments all over the are engaged in economic activities that are quite capitalist in nature, there are no exceptions.people may think of china as a country which with a difference.but to my mind they are a pseudo communists and virtual.the difference between the rich and poor has grown many fold in that country.there may be some trickle down effect but the gap has grown manifolds. the growth in chinese economy is due to its capitalistic approach and not due to its socialist or communist policies.the good of the people had been replaced by growth in consumable commodities and some other sectors such as banking and infrastructure.
take the example of nandigram in west bengal, the govt had been following a policy of capitalist industrialisation in the state for some time now, at the expense of the poor farmers. the unrest among the farmers has grown manifold despite some high handed measures by the government.
here the left seems to be going altogether to right and not necessarily that they are right (correct).having said that we must not loose focus of the fact that, if the left is right then right is ultra right.that is a point to think upon.and we will take that subject some other time.

the elections in up are over.the results are almost hard to believe for almost any political party.the results throws light on various new dimensions of the indian electorate.the elections were conducted without any rigging and other malpractices.the election commission must be commended for its stupendous duty.
the triumph of mayawati in these polls have been some kind of eye opener for the big political outfits and also the previous incumbent mr.mulayam sing yadav.he merely fretted about the results as -”election commission didn’t want samajwadi party to win”.that was a stupid assertion in the very first place.
mr. yadav does not seem to be taking any lesson from his misadventures.the political tamasha which he leaded in his state is some kind of sham.the advertisements by amitabh bachchan was as bad in taste as the law and governence in the state.mr. bachchan statement on the bank of ganga didn’t go well with the people who live on its bank.the irony of the situation was evident from the beginning but to think that mayawati will win, seemed some kind of joke.the president of BJP asserted in a thunderous tone that he will never cooperate with mayawati under any circumstance.so were other forces claiming their superiority.but when the results were out peole were seen looking for safe place to bury their faces.the usually outspoken mr. amar singh could find only his luxurious volkswagen to run away from the political tsunami caused by mayawati and company.
so what is the real cause of such a verdict? the analysis of the whole politics in UP says it all.the previous incumbent got it all wrong…..by marketing its achievements(or underachievement) by a big celebrity like mr. amitabh bachchan.it was like selling some kind of beauty products to the masses or shall i say “the chwanprash”.clearly these stupid stunts did’nt go well with the resilient electorate of this great state.when mr.bachchan averred he wanted to take birth on this bank of ganga……people understood, he is not gonna stay here, anyway.when he convinced the audience in his comfort or shall i say “CONFORT” as he is the greatest star of the millenium(poll conducted by BBC at the turn of the century), people felt cheated.and all of these drama failed to get them vote.also it is interesting to note that, mr. bachchan has quipped in the WEEK -”if people feel i should be ashamed of being with amar singh.then i’m proud to be ashamed.” brilliant, but did it help his so called family and political brother.nobody seems to agree with you sir!
on the other hand the triumph of BSP was as clinical as mr. bachchan’s acting capibility.the resounding success of BSP is attributed to its social engineering it conducted successfully in UP.this is partly true, but the main achievement was convincing everyone that she’ll provide the better alternative than any of the political outfit and also convincing them about the clean governence that she intends to give them.that worked…..and that worked miracles.people had already tested all others e.g. BJP,CONG,SP.be it muslims, hindu,obcs,sc/st, nobody had faith in their traditional political outfits.
in a very bizzare incident an ex-minister was shown tearing papers in the secretariate.that proves the level of corruption in the ex-gov.not only that offices were found to be open on sundays and lower ranked people were seen tearing office files. everyone seems to be in that web.
it remains to be seen how the new incumbent operates and also it remains to be seen can it get rid of the corruption and rampant lawlessness.

it is not money that matters.it is your attitude that counts.man makes money and not the other way round i.e. money makes man.a lot of money can be made in a short span of time. though, what is difficult is, ….the strength of your character and its quality.it takes a lot of time and with difficulty it is nurtured and then it stands tall, so that it shines, for every everyone to see.
and then money can be made…..almost effortlessly.the point is that if our intrinsic qualities are sound and intact then any task can be accomplished effortlessly.
